Beauty abounds…. there are no bad views in Bonne Bay!   My house sits right on that site mentioned above, on the Trout River Road just where Highway 431 turns toward Trout River, passing the Parks Canada Discovery Centre (nearby), passing through the incredible Trout River Gulch and alongside the ancient Tablelands (part of inner earth!) as the road goes to the picturesque town of Trout River.   The Green Gardens Trail is also accessed this way.

Of course there are great trails in this area, which is located on the “South Side” of Gros Morne National Park.  The “North Side” of the park is a charming ride on the water taxi away, or if you need to explore further, it is about an hour’s drive… there you will find the James Callahan Trail up Gros Morne Mountain, the communities of Norris Point and Rocky Harbour, Western Brook Pond (the boat tour is the most popular thing to do in the park) and other wonders such as Green Point and Shallow Bay.

In the summertime there are many Park activities happening, including daily guided tours of the Tablelands.  In addition there’s the happenings of Gros Morne Summer Music (gmsm.ca), Writers at Woody Point (writersatwoodypoint.com) and events at the Merchant Warehouse in downtown Woody Point – in addition to other local events such as the Bonne Bay Regatta.  You can get the water taxi to Norris Point to visit the Marine Station or kayak with Gros Morne Adventures (grosmorneadventures.com)  To see what’s on the go in and around Gros Morne Park and the communities embedded in the park check out visitgrosmorne.com web site or listen to our own community radio station, VOBB, at 95. or 98
